How do I prepare for a facial?
Avoid exfoliating, using retinol, or heavy skincare products for at least 3-5 days prior to your appointment. Stay hydrated, avoid sun exposure, and skip waxing or hair removal for 24-48 hours before your facial to prevent irritation. Take photos of the skincare products you’re currently using to discuss with your esthetician.
What are contraindications of a chemical peel?
Chemical peels are generally not recommended for individuals with active/flared skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea, as well as those with open wounds, infections, diabetes or autoimmune diseases. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid peels. People who are sensitive to certain ingredients in the peel, or those using isotretinoin, tretinoin, retinal etc. may experience adverse reactions.
Can I bring a friend with me in the room?
Yes! You can have a friend with you in the room or they can wait in the lobby.
How should I come dressed?
Feel free to come as you like, but comfortable clothing is recommended. If you’re getting a facial, please remove any jewelry, masks, or glasses, and take out your ponytail if possible. I do not provide robes, so wearing a tank top or tube top is recommended if you’d like me to work on your neck and décolleté. For waxing, loose-fitting clothes are best for your comfort.
How do I take care of my skin after a chemical peel?
Cleanse your skin with gentle cleansers to wash away debris and slough off dead skin cells. Treat your skin with serums and moisturizers that contain : Ceramides, Peptides, Fatty Acids, Lipids, Semi-Occlusive, Vitamin C, Tyrosinase Inhibitor, Hyaluronic Acid, use gentle enzyme masks and SPF.
What should I do before my Wax appointment?
Make sure your hair is at least ¼-inch long — about the size of a grain of rice. Gently exfoliate to help prevent ingrown hairs. Do not wear lotion. Avoid tanning for at least 24 hours before hand. Wear breathable, cotton underwear or loose bottoms for maximum comfort.
What do I need to avoid after chemical peel?
Avoid direct sunlight for one week. Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation. Avoid exercise, sweating, hot baths, jacuzzi, steam rooms, saunas, swimming pools etc. for 48-72 hours. Do not pick, rub, or scratch the face. Try to avoid wearing foundation for 24 hours and do not exfoliate or use retinal for a week.
What should I do after my Wax appointment?
Avoid intercourse, hot tub, swimming pools, exercise, and tanning for 24 hours. If there’s any tenderness or redness, apply a hydrocortisone cream, a cool compress or aloe vera.
